<p>BATANGAS — It isn&#x27;t just the livelihood of fisherfolk that has been affected by news that the bodies of missing cockfighting enthusiasts were allegedly dumped in Taal Lake.</p><p>In Talisay, one of the towns surrounding the lake, tourist arrivals have sharply declined, with some visitors canceling reservations and bookings.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/7/12/demand-for-fish-from-taal-dwindles-as-divers-search-for-sabungeros-remains-1454"><strong>Demand for fish from Taal dwindles as divers search for sabungeros remains<br/></strong></a></div><p>“Hindi pa kami nakakabangon simula noong pumutok  ang bulkan, nag-pandemic, pagkatapos ngayong ang tourism industry natin ay medyo bumabangon ito na naman apektado na naman kami itong nangyayaring retrieval sa mga sabungero,” Talisay Municipal Administrator Alfredo Anciado said.</p><p>(We are still recovering from the Taal eruption in 2020, and from the pandemic. Now, our tourism industry is starting to come back but it is affected again, this time by the retrieval operations)</p><p>A hotel-resort in town has already requested a certification from the municipal government to assure guests that the retrieval operations will not curtail tourism activities.</p><p>“Iba naman ang ginagawalan ng mga nagre-retrieval” Anciado added.</p><p>(The retrieval operations are in another area)</p><div><strong>TOURISM TO VOLCANO ISLAND</strong></div><p>Boat rides are among the main tourist attractions on Taal Lake, but the Talisay local government is appealing to the national government to once again allow tourists to set foot on Volcano Island—even in limited areas only.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/specials/facing-volcano-then-virus"><strong>Facing a volcano, then a virus: Residents around Taal fight back<br/></strong></a></div><p>“Baka pwude bumalik muli ang mga turista namin kasi ang gusto nila  makababa sa Volcano Island. Doon lamang sa may tourism center naming before makita yung ruins” Anciado added.</p><p>(Maybe tourists can be allowed back on Volcano Island.
