Cebu City declares state of calamity

<div><br/></div><p>CEBU CITY — Cebu City, through its council, has formally declared a state of calamity following the flooding incident that happened last week.</p><p>In its regular session on Tuesday, Cebu City councilor and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chair Dave Tumulak made the resolution for the declaration &quot;due to the adverse effect and disruption caused.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/17/over-200-individuals-evacuated-in-cebu-city-due-to-flood-voyages-suspended-1146">Over 200 individuals evacuated in Cebu City due to flood; voyages suspended</a></div><p>The declaration was made after a pronouncement by Mayor Nestor Archival in concurrence with the DRRMO.</p><p>With the formal declaration, the city can now access the quick response fund pegged at P61 million.</p><p>&quot;But the mayor will use only P15 million for desilting of rivers and declogging,&quot; added Tumulak. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/22/dante-may-reach-tropical-storm-intensity-within-the-day-pagasa-0644">Dante may reach tropical storm intensity within the day: PAGASA</a></div><p>Some areas identified are the river in Barangay Cogon Pardo, Estero de Parian, and another waterway in M.J. Cuenco Avenue.</p><p>In the coming days, the disaster office will continue its ocular survey to point out other areas that need to be dredged, especially as another weather disturbance looms.
