Facebook/BULSU Student Government"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">BulSU Student Government, concerned progressive outfits and civic leaders launched Bulakenyos for Good Governance on August 29, 2025. <em>Facebook/BULSU Student Government</em></span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>Malolos, BULACAN – Socio-civic leaders, progressive organizations, Sangguniang Kabataan members, and student councils have formed the coalition &quot;Bulakenyos for Good Governance&quot; to call for accountability over flawed or &quot;ghost&quot; flood control projects. </p><p>They held a press conference on Friday, August 29, wherein former senatorial candidates Danilo Ramos and David D’Angelo attended as speakers.</p><p>Ramos, who chairs the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), discussed how corruption worsen flooding – which in ripple effect – affects Bulacan residents, especially farmers.</p><p>“Dapat matigil hindi lamang korapsyon, kundi pandarambong dahil tayo ang biktima. Managot ang dapat managot,” he said, adding how farmers struggle in food scarcity and supply delivery after the bridge between Sibul, San Miguel, and Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) in Bulacan was destroyed by flood.</p><p>D&#x27;Angelo meanwhile hit the Bulacan provincial government&#x27;s alleged lack of efforts to address flooding and repetitive repairs of roads that are still in good condition.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/8/26/coa-orders-inspection-of-ongoing-completed-flood-control-projects-in-bulacan-1800">COA orders inspection of ongoing, completed flood control projects in Bulacan</a></div><p>Bulacan had received 15 percent of the country&#x27;s funding for flood-control structures since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.&#x27;s term began, almost at the level of Metro Manila&#x27;s funding, according to the data from the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ).</p><p>The province however endure persistent flooding with every typhoon or heavy downpour.
