John Dimain, AFP</div>MANILA -- Around 746,000 households in Northern Luzon were hit by power interruptions after super typhoon Nando ravaged several northern provinces, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) said on Tuesday.Around 480,000 households were affected in Abra, 7,000 in Batanes, 193,000 in Ilocos Norte, and 66,000 in Cagayan, said NEA Administrator Antonio Almeda.&quot;The cause of the interruption is the backbone line of the NGCP (National Grid Corporation of the Philippines),&quot; Almeda told state television PTV.&quot;I think there is a fault on that so we are awaiting the measures of NGCP on how to restore power in the areas of Abra,&quot; he said.&quot;Basco is well okay pero yung sa dalawang island sa Sabtang and Itbayat, they are still assessing… Medyo may kahirapan kasi sa signal in those areas,&quot; he said.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/9/23/wind-signal-no-2-1-still-up-in-northern-luzon-after-nando-exit-1212">READ: Wind signal no. 2, 1 still up in Northern Luzon after Nando exit</a></div>Line assessments are still ongoing as of September 23 noon, Almeda said.&quot;We have to await feedback from NGCP on when and how it will be restored if it can be restored within the day,&quot; he said.&quot;Once we are able to come up with an assessment then we will send delegates from nearby cooperatives and restore power in the area,&quot; he said.The NEA is also coordinating with the Department of Energy and has &quot;sent advice to the concerned electric cooperatives to be on standby,&quot; Almeda said.&quot;We are not yet able to come up with an objective assessment… [but] rest assured that these cooperatives are in full force to restore power as soon as possible.&quot;Super typhoon Nando has exited the Philippine area of responsibility early Tuesday, but a brewing tropical depression in the eastern side of the country is set to barrel across Luzon this week, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.<div>NGCP REPORTS</div>The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the following lines remain unavailable as of 9 a.m.: San Esteban-Bangued 69kV LineDate/Time Out: 22 September 2025 / 7:42PMCustomer Affected: ABRECOLal-lo-Sta. Ana 69kV LineDate/Time Out: 22 September 2025 / 9:25AMCustomer Affected: CAGELCO IIMagapit-Camalaniugan 69kV LineDate/Time Out: 22 September 2025 / 3:21PMCustomer Affected: CAGELCO IIThe NGCP said its personnel are now inspecting and assessing the impact of the super typhoon as restoration continues.NGCP&#x27;s public relations officer Trish Roque said restoration can be easier and quicker this time as no electric posts fell down.Roque said there were poles that leaned and wires that were cut due to strong winds brought by Nando.The whole Meralco franchise area, meanwhile, did not suffer from any power interruption, but the country&#x27;s biggest power utility says it is getting ready for the entry of typhoon Opong this week.Meralco Spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said the company is ready for any event as its personnel were alerted to monitor the situation.
