Photo: Macabebe MDRRMO</div>PAMPANGA — Intermittent moderate to occasionally heavy rains throughout the week have caused widespread flooding across Pampanga, making several roads impassable to certain types of vehicles.In the towns of Minalin and San Simon, multiple roads are no longer passable to light vehicles due to flooding caused by persistent rain and high tide.In Barangay San Agustin, Candaba, local authorities are closely monitoring Baliuag Road, which has become impassable even to heavy trucks due to rising floodwaters.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/9/26/masbate-hardest-hit-by-opong-ocd-says-1824">Masbate hardest hit by Opong, OCD says </a></div>In Macabebe, light vehicles are unable to pass through parts of the Sta. Lucia–San Nicolas Road, as well as along Kalsadang Bayu Road in San Nicolas.Due to the worsening flood situation, several bus companies operating the Macabebe-to-Apalit route have temporarily suspended their trips.In response, the Macabebe local government unit (LGU) requested assistance from the Philippine Army to provide free transportation for affected residents.As of this week, two military trucks have been deployed. One was stationed at the flooded district hospital to assist in transporting patients. The other is positioned in the town center to help commuters.A 6x6 truck from the Philippine Coast Guard is also expected to arrive in the coming days to help ferry passengers and ensure residents can continue their daily routines and get to work despite the flooding.Officials stress that this flooding is not just a recent event but the result of intense rains amplified by the southwest monsoon and stronger typhoons—effects linked to climate change.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/9/26/opong-now-over-west-ph-sea-signal-no-3-up-over-occidental-mindoro-palawan-1805">Opong now over West PH Sea</a></div>Another major contributing factor is land subsidence in parts of Pampanga, especially in towns within the 4th District, which worsens the risk of flooding.Additionally, high tides have had a significant impact, with water levels reaching up to 4 feet in some areas.Local officials continue to monitor the situation closely and urge motorists to use alternate routes whenever possible.
