More than half of Oriental Mindoro remained without electricity on Saturday after Typhoon Opong toppled power poles. The Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) is working round-the-clock to repair power lines and restore electricity across the province. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/27/-opong-leaves-13-dead-more-than-23-000-families-in-evacuation-centers-2316">&#x27;Opong&#x27; leaves 13 dead; more than 23,000 families in evacuation centers</a></div>According to ORMECO General Manager Engr. Humprey Dolor, as of 10:00 p.m. Saturday, only 41.96 percent of households had their power supply restored—equivalent to 111,527 households out of a total of 265,765.So far, 27.93 percent of barangays, or 119 out of 426, already have electricity.Over 200 electric poles were knocked down by the typhoon’s strong winds.“Nakadepende rin kasi kami kay NPC kasi hindi rin kami makapagpatest ng aming line kung walang clearance si NPC naman doon sa kanilang  69kv line kasi doon kami kumukuha ng power, kapag walang clearance si NPC hindi rin magclearance si Transco para  sa planta na pumasok sa linya kasi masisira,” Dolor explained.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/27/-opong-leaves-13-dead-more-than-23-000-families-in-evacuation-centers-2316">&#x27;Opong&#x27; leaves 13 dead; more than 23,000 families in evacuation centers</a></div>Power supply has been partially restored in 11 towns and one city, including Calapan City, Baco, San Teodoro, Puerto Galera, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pinamalayan, Pola, Gloria, Bansud, and Bongabong.However, the towns of Roxas, Mansalay, and Bulalacao remain without power.Damage incurred by ORMECO due to Typhoon Opong has reached over ₱12 million.
