Cheryl Baldicantos, AFP </div>CEBU CITY — Search and rescue operations at the Binaliw Landfill in Cebu City ended Sunday with the recovery of the body of the last person still missing after a landslide on January 8.Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak of the city&#x27;s disaster response committee said the last body was retrieved early Sunday morning, bringing the number of people who died in the landslide to 36.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/1/17/binaliw-landslide-death-toll-now-at-35-1-still-missing-1550">Binaliw landslide death toll now at 35; 1 still missing</a></div>All people reported missing have been accounted for, with 14 getting treatment at a hospital and four already sent home.The city on Friday held a day of mourning for those lost in the landslide and earlier this week declared a state of calamity.The declaration gives the city government access to emergency funds that will be used for urgent waste management needs.
