Two killed, 18 missing in Angeles City building collapse; rescue enters second day

Out of this number, 26 individuals have been successfully rescued, while 18 people remain missing.</p><p>The death toll rose to two after emergency responders pulled a man from the debris just after midnight. It also questioned the building’s integrity despite prior thunderstorms.</p><p>The group urged a swift and transparent probe, accountability if safety violations are proven, and renewed calls to amend the OSH law to penalize serious breaches.</p><p>The Philippine National Police, meanwhile, said it is closely coordinating with local authorities and emergency response units following the collapse of the hotel construction site in Barangay Balibago.</p><p>Rescue operations remain ongoing amid hazardous conditions caused by unstable debris and live power lines. The PNP is likewise supporting the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the incident and possible violations of safety and building regulations.</p>
