Dennis Datu, ABS-CBN News MANILA -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has assured the public that the long-delayed Alaminos–San Pablo Bypass Road in Laguna will finally be completed before the end of the year, following San Pablo City Mayor Najie Gapangada Jr.’s appeal to fast-track the stalled infrastructure project. </div>Dizon personally inspected the bypass road on Thursday, just two days after Gapangada publicly called on the national government to expedite its completion.“By December tapos ito,” Dizon declared.The nearly 13-kilometer Alaminos–San Pablo Bypass Road, a ₱2.8-billion project, was launched in 2016 but remains unfinished a decade later.<div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/6/9/san-pablo-city-mayor-appeals-to-marcos-sec-dizon-to-complete-long-delayed-bypass-road-1937">San Pablo City mayor appeals to Marcos, Dizon to complete long-delayed bypass road</a></div>Dizon admitted that the project suffered major setbacks under its previous contractor, a construction firm linked to the controversial Discaya couple, which reportedly completed only 15 percent of the work. “Terminated na. Mag-aaward na tayo ng bagong kontratista. Wala na yung Discaya, Discaya. So bago na maayos na ang kontratista na gagawa nito, sisigurahin ko mismo mayor na maayos at mabilis ang gawa,“ Dizon said.Right-of-way issues also contributed to the prolonged delay. Heavy traffic along this corridor often results in long travel delays, making the completion of the bypass road a highly anticipated relief for motorists and businesses alike.
