Noel Sianosa, AFP </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — A suspect in the deadly school shooting in Tacloban City may have come from a troubled home.</p><p>Police say based on their investigation, the 14-year old shooter, one of a pair of minors who shot up classrooms at the San Jose National High School on June 22, had been exposed to constant conflict among his family members.</p><p>“During the investigation, it was found out na hindi broken family itong dalawang CICL (child in conflict with the law). However, sa isang CICL, there is an information na may hindi magandang samahan within the family,” said LtCol.  Analiza Armeza, chief of the Public Information Office of Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8).</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/6/24/tacloban-school-shooters-had-target-police-1256"><strong>Tacloban school shooters had target — police</strong></a> </div><p>When asked to clarify what investigators meant by an unhealthy family relationship, Armeza said police had only established that there were frequent quarrels inside the home.</p><p>She said investigators have not yet gathered sufficient information to determine the exact nature of those conflicts or whether they directly involved the child. </p><p>However, Armeza explained that despite the discovery, PRO-8 cautioned against interpreting the household situation as the established motive behind the attack. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>PRIOR BULLYING RECORD</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Apart from the family background, investigators earlier confirmed that the 14-year-old suspect had been referred to the school&#x27;s guidance office after allegedly being assaulted while he was in a lower grade level. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/24/tacloban-school-shooter-attended-flag-ceremony-hid-in-cr-before-crime-pnp-0950"><strong>Tacloban school shooter attended flag ceremony, hid in CR before crime: PNP </strong></a> </div><p>&quot;Lumabas ‘yan sa investigation ng ating imbestigador na before sa lower level niya ay napunta sa guidance dahil allegedly ay nabugbog siya.
