MANILA — Two armed robbery suspects were arrested in a dragnet operation along the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca, Quezon on Friday, June 26, after authorities tracked them aboard a passenger bus following a robbery incident in Camarines Sur.In a report obtained by ABS-CBN News, the operation stemmed from an urgent request from the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Libmanan Municipal Police Station in Camarines Sur, which reported that two unidentified armed suspects involved in a robbery had boarded a bus and were believed to be carrying unlicensed firearms.Acting on the information, personnel of the 2nd Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd QPMFC), led by Police Lt.Col. Rae Charles Enrile, joined forces with officers from the Gumaca Municipal Police Station and the PIU of the Quezon PPO to establish a dragnet operation at around 10:55 a.m. along the Maharlika Highway in front of Camp BGen Arsenio P. Natividad in Barangay Rosario, Gumaca.Just minutes later, authorities successfully intercepted the bus and passengers were asked to disembark one by one as police searched for two men matching the description provided by intelligence units—both wearing black jackets and black hats, with one reportedly bearing a facial tattoo.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/25/alleged-serial-child-kidnapper-and-rapist-nabbed-after-abducting-4-year-old-girl-1721">Alleged serial child kidnapper and rapist nabbed after abducting 4-year-old girl </a></div>Following a systematic pat-down search of all male passengers, police positively identified and apprehended the suspects.A search of the suspects’ brown sling bag led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm pistol, a loaded caliber .40 pistol, two extra loaded magazines for the .40 caliber firearm, assorted foreign and Philippine currency, and various pieces of jewelry believed to be connected to the reported robbery.The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated firearms and other recovered items, were turned over to the Gumaca Municipal Police Station for proper documentation, inventory, further investigation, and coordination with the concerned police units.Authorities are preparing the filing of criminal charges against the suspects as the investigation continues. Police said further developments will be released as they become available.
