<p>MANILA -- The Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite Province and Hugo Perez Elementary School-Annex confirmed in a <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19Cx2zk1Zz/">social media statement</a> that a Grade 4 pupil died following a deworming activity at the school.</p><p>&quot;The administration of DepEd Cavite Province... and Hugo Perez Elementary School-Annex faculty and staff... are deeply saddened about the death of a Grade 4 pupil following a deworming activity,&quot; the statement read.</p><p>According to the statement, school officials are actively coordinating with law enforcement and health sectors regarding the incident.</p><p>&quot;We are likewise in constant coordination with the proper authorities concerned regarding the unfortunate incident,&quot; they stated.</p><p>The education department also assured the public that they will fully cooperate with any legal proceedings or investigations into the student&#x27;s death.</p><p>&quot;...Should there be any ensuing legal processes and inquiries... DepEd Cavite Province officials, employees, and personnel... will wholly cooperate and be amenable whenever the need arises,&quot; the statement added.</p><p>The school administration expressed its deepest condolences to the grieving family and noted that they are providing support to help them through the tragedy.</p><p>&quot;The DepEd Cavite Province and the school administration... are continuously making efforts in reaching out to extend our immeasurable depth of sympathy and prayers to the bereaved family,&quot; they said.</p><p>DepEd Cavite Province and Hugo Perez Elementary School-Annex released the joint statement on their official Facebook page on July 10, 2026.
