<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784099310131Screen Shot 2026-07-15 at 6.49.33 AM (11).jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Philippine Eagle Sawaga-Dalwangan before and in her current condition inside her confinement enclosure, showing significant clinical improvement nearly two weeks after her rescue.<em> Philippine Eagle Foundation &amp; Merly Omarol Suday </em></span></span></span>MANILA — A Philippine Eagle <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/7/14/philippine-eagle-na-inatake-ng-mahigit-30-unggoy-nailigtas-ng-mga-katutubong-lumad-sa-bukidnon-0910">said to be attacked by scores of monkeys</a> in a mountainous area in Bukidnon nearly two weeks ago is still recuperating, a non-governmental organization dedicated to saving the endangered national bird said Wednesday.</div><p>In a statement, the Davao-based Philippine Eagle Foundation said Sawaga-Dalwangan, the young Philippine Eagle, is recovering &quot;under intensive veterinary care and close monitoring.&quot;</p><p>Marvin Linoy rescued the eagle on July 3 with the help of the Daraghuyan Ancestral Domain Indigenous Political Structure and the Inhandig Tribal Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the foundation said.</p><p>It said the community immediately turned over the eagle to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Malaybalay city government for emergency care and coordination.</p><p>The foundation noted that the eagle was &quot;weak, dehydrated, and unable to eat on her own&quot; when it was rescued, adding that it sustained &quot;several wounds and a severe maggot infestation on her wings, abdomen, and tail area.&quot;</p><p>The eagle&#x27;s X-rays showed two metal pellets in her body: one in her wing and another in her left thigh, it added.</p><p>The group&#x27;s veterinarians then &quot;gave her fluids, wound treatment, antibiotics, pain medicine, assisted feeding, and continuous care.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/7/14/philippine-eagle-na-inatake-ng-mahigit-30-unggoy-nailigtas-ng-mga-katutubong-lumad-sa-bukidnon-0910">Philippine Eagle na inatake ng mahigit 30 unggoy nailigtas ng mga katutubong Lumad sa Bukidnon</a></div><p>&quot;Sawaga-Dalwangan is now alert and responsive. She is eating on her own, her wounds are clean, and the maggot infestation is gone. She has completed her antibiotics and other medicines, and there are no signs of an active infection,&quot; the Philippine Eagle Foundation said.</p><p>&quot;Veterinarians successfully removed the small metal pellet from her wing. The other pellet remains deep inside her left thigh.
