MANILA — A man was arrested after allegedly swindling more than P3.4 million in cash and valuables from the president and chief executive officer of a recruitment agency in Baguio City by posing as a representative of a Taiwan-based recruitment agency, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said.The suspect was arrested in Barangay Payatas in Quezon City on Thursday after police tracked him using a GPS device inside the luxury bag that he had allegedly borrowed from the victim to carry the cash.According to the QCPD, the suspect introduced himself to the victim on July 2 using the name &quot;Eugene Huo&quot; and claimed to be a Taiwanese businessman looking for a Philippine recruitment agency that could provide overseas Filipino workers, particularly domestic helpers, to Taiwan.QCPD spokesperson Police Maj. Jennifer Gannaban said the suspect allegedly convinced the victim that her recruitment agency needed accreditation before it could deploy workers.Police said that, over several meetings, the suspect allegedly presented documents related to the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and claimed that accreditation was required.He also allegedly instructed the victim to open a US dollar account for the required cash bond.On July 22, the victim withdrew P3 million in cash, believing it would be converted into approximately US$72,000 for the supposed accreditation process.The two met at a hotel in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, where the victim handed over the money. Police said the suspect claimed he would retrieve the US dollars from his vehicle and borrowed the victim&#x27;s luxury bag to carry the cash.However, the suspect allegedly never returned.&quot;Sabi nitong suspek natin is meron siyang dalang dollar so siya na magpapalit sa cash na P3 million, which is may tiwala itong victim natin dahil according sa kanya gusto talaga niyang magpa-accredit yung agency niya para makapag-supply ng domestic worker sa Taiwan,&quot; Gannaban said.Alarmed, the victim sought help from the police, prompting authorities to launch a follow-up operation that led to the suspect&#x27;s arrest.Police recovered around P2.8 million in cash and the victim&#x27;s luxury bag from the suspect.However, authorities said some of the money had already been spent, while one of the suspect&#x27;s cellphones has yet to be recovered.The suspect denied the allegations.&quot;Wala po sir, hindi po totoo yan sir.&quot;When asked why he allegedly had a Chinese and a Filipino name, he replied:&quot;Kasi po tatay ko Chinese po.
