Photo courtesy of Mark Guillermo</div>MARILAO, Bulacan -- The bodies of four teenage boys who went missing after being <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/12/5-teens-missing-after-being-swept-away-by-strong-currents-in-marilao-river-1700">swept away by strong river currents</a> in separate areas of San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, and Caloocan have all been recovered.According to Barangay Kagawad Roberto Diaz, the last to be found was the body of 18-year-old Mark Ivan Gerona, which was recovered at around 6 a.m. Saturday after a scavenger spotted it at a fishpond in Barangay Nagbalon, Marilao, Bulacan.Although the victim&#x27;s body was already bloated, his father positively identified him through the denim shorts he was wearing.Gerona drowned in a river in Camarin, Caloocan.Maricel Gerona Acero said the family immediately had her nephew&#x27;s remains cremated because the body could no longer be kept for a wake.On Thursday, the bodies of two 13-year-old boys, Raizen Karl Delos Reyes and Ronjean Justine Alseco, were also recovered.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/13/bangkay-ng-2-pang-binatilyo-na-inagos-sa-marilao-river-natagpuan-na-1456">Bangkay ng 2 pang binatilyo na inagos sa Marilao River, natagpuan na</a></div>Delos Reyes drowned in Bagong Silang, Caloocan, while Alseco was swept away by strong currents in a river in Barangay Gaya-Gaya, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.Their bodies were recovered from a portion of the Marilao River within Barangay Nagbalon in Marilao, Bulacan.Meanwhile, the body of 17-year-old John Norbert Nipay was found on Wednesday in Parada, Santa Maria, Bulacan.Nipay drowned in a river in Barangay Sto. Cristo, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.The teenagers drowned on Monday, August 10, after swimming in the river amid strong currents caused by the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.
