Jessie Cruzat, ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Bulacan residents deal with flooding after heavy rains. <em>Jessie Cruzat, ABS-CBN News</em><em></em></span></span></span></div><p>CALUMPIT, Bulacan -- Flooding continues to affect parts of Bulacan, with residents of Barangay San Miguel in Calumpit calling for the completion of flood-control projects that have remained unfinished since last year.</p><p>Barangay San Miguel Chairman Arthur Binuya said floodwaters are now deeper than in previous years. </p><p>&quot;Mas lumalim pa kesa no&#x27;ng huli kayong pumunta rito. ‘Yong habagat sumobra ang buhos ng ulan. Grabe ang buhos,&quot; Binuya told ABS-CBN News. </p><p>&quot;Mahal na Pangulo, Secretary Vince Dizon, sana po masulusyunan na itong napakalaking problema namin. Kung walang nakalaan na budget, hindi kami maghihinaing. Kaso ang laki ng budget, sana po magawan ng paraan,&quot; he added. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/9/nearly-300-bulacan-families-evacuated-as-habagat-triggers-widespread-flooding-1924">READ: Nearly 300 Bulacan families evacuated as Habagat triggers widespread flooding</a></div><p>Some residents have been forced to stay in their flooded homes, while others have evacuated to temporary shelters.</p><p>Maricel Sales, whose house was submerged in floodwaters, said she has been unable to report for work for a week because of the situation.</p><p>&quot;Sobrang hirap po magluto, maglaba. Nananawagan po ako sa mga buwaya. Baka po sana makita n&#x27;yo ang sitwasyon namin dito. Kami po ang nagdudusa sa mga pinagagawang po ninyo. Sana naman po magising po kayo at matauhan din po,&quot; said Sales.</p><p>The flooding has also affected basic household activities, including access to toilets. </p><p>Sales&#x27; family has resorted to using a makeshift toilet.</p><p>Meanwhile, Juvilyn Oronce said her family had to use a basin to transport groceries through the floodwaters.</p><p>&quot;Namili po ng stocks ng mga bata po. Marami kami sa bahay tatlong pamilya. Sobrang hirap po.&quot;</p><p>Residents living near the overflowing Pampanga River have also evacuated.</p><p>Geraldine Macayan, 55, said she evacuated with eight of her grandchildren. </p><p>&quot;Sa mga bata kasi marami kang isi-save na buhay. Wala mang yero, puro trapal lang, tarpaulin. Masasabi ko sa pamahalaan, dapat ayusin nila ang bagay dito sa barangay na ito,&quot; he said.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/10/habagat-dumps-weeks-worth-of-rain-in-several-areas-luzon-dams-record-gains-1404">READ: Habagat dumps weeks&#x27; worth of rain in several areas; Luzon dams record gains</a></div><p>The Bulacan provincial government said it continues to coordinate with the Department of Public Works and Highways regarding unfinished flood-control projects in the province.</p><p>Vice Governor Alexis Castro said the provincial government has confirmed that around 600 flood-control projects in the province have been stalled. </p><p>&quot;Nagpatawag tayo ng hearing sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Ano ang balak ng DPWH? Kasi maraming projects sa Bulacan ang hindi natapos. hindi na relief [goods] ang kailangan ng tao. Ang kailangan na ng kababayan natin ay solusyon,&quot; Castro said. </p><p>According to the Provincial Government of Bulacan, one city and seven municipalities remain affected by flooding: Malolos City, Calumpit, Bocaue, Pulilan, Balagtas, Guiguinto, Hagonoy, and Paombong.</p><p>The provincial government has also directed rural health units to keep medicines, including doxycycline, on standby as a precaution against diseases that may arise from prolonged exposure to floodwaters.</p><p>No cases of waterborne diseases such as leptospirosis, athlete&#x27;s foot, and dengue have been reported so far, according to the provincial government.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VPa0_V93TZ8?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong></div>
