MisterG Gloria via Jessie Cruzat, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Several areas in Bataan were affected by flooding following days of heavy rains, with nine of the province’s 11 municipalities and the city of Balanga reporting flooded areas, according to the Bataan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.Among the areas hit was Barangay Townsite in Mariveles, where floodwaters quickly rose and submerged roads and homes.Drone footage from resident MisterG Gloria showed large portions of Townsite and neighboring Barangay Cabcaben covered in floodwaters. The flooding also affected the Roman Superhighway, a major road connecting several towns in Bataan. Pinasok na kami. Yan na. Bigla na lang. Nagkanya-kanya na kaming evacuate,” said Dela Cruz.Joed Celindro, another resident, said the flooding lasted through the night and into the early morning.“Magdamag po kagabi hanggang madaling araw. Tuluyan na pong bumaha. Noong 2018 po, nangyari noong una. Pangalawa po ngayon,” said Celindro.Mariveles MDRRMO personnel also rescued residents who were trapped inside their homes. Some residents used makeshift rafts to evacuate, while others brought their pets with them.In some areas, floodwaters reached three to four feet, soaking belongings inside homes.Residents also pointed to a bridge construction project as one possible reason for the rapid rise of floodwaters in the area. They said a temporary detour had narrowed the river passage, causing the water to overflow toward nearby farms and houses.“Hindi na po kinaya ng ilog dahil may tatlong tubo na nakabara. Ilog po, tinambakan lang po. Pansamantalang tinambakan dahil ginagawa ‘yong taas. Ang nangyari po, ‘yong mga lupa po natin saturated na po, ‘yong mga ilog mataas na rin po dahil po sa buhos ng ulan galing po sa mga kabundukan,” said Rowena Marie Santos, acting PDRRM officer of the Bataan PDRRMO.“Kapag malakas po ang ulan mabilis po talaga siyang babahain kasi wala na pong mag-ho-hold no’ng water.”Aside from Mariveles, flooding was also reported in Balanga City and the municipalities of Abucay, Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Orion, Pilar and Samal.More than 300 families, or over 1,000 individuals, remain in 20 evacuation centers across the province.<div> </div>
