Three children drownied while swimming along the coastal area of Sitio Proper, Barangay Navotas, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.According to the Calapan City Police Station, the victims were an eight-year-old child and two six-year-old children.A relative called for help at around 5:30 p.m. after noticing that the children were struggling in the water.Rescue operations were immediately launched with the assistance of the Calapan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The victims were brought to a hospital but were declared dead on arrival.Initial investigation showed that the children were with their parents in the area for an advanced birthday celebration of a relative. However, police said the parents allegedly did not notice that the children had gone into the sea to swim.
