Office of the City Election Officer Cotabato Facebook page</div>COTABATO CITY — Officials of the Commission on Elections, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and election watchdog groups convened for the final command conference and stakeholders’ meeting for the BARMM Parliamentary Election scheduled on September 14, 2026.The meeting was held Wednesday, August 26, at Camp Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.Comelec presented its final preparations for the region’s first-ever parliamentary election, including contingency measures to address possible election-related incidents.&quot;Napakahirap po pagsama-samahin ang ganitong klase ng mga personalidad sa iisang pagkakataon, sa iisang araw. Isa lang ang ibig sabihin, tuloy na tuloy ang halalan sa September 14,&quot; Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said.(It is so difficult to get all these personalities together. That only means one thing, the September 14 elections are definitely pushing through.)According to data presented by PNP Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), a total of 93 areas across the region have been identified as areas with security concerns.Of these, 27 areas are classified as areas of grave concern, where the declaration of Comelec control may be necessary.Twenty-one of these areas are in Lanao del Sur, three in Maguindanao del Sur, and one each in Maguindanao del Norte, Basilan, and the Special Geographic Area.Comelec said that since the start of the election period, only one suspected election-related violent incident has been recorded in the BARMM.Meanwhile, PNP PRO BAR reported 17 cases of violations of the COMELEC gun ban.PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez assured the public of the Philippine National Police’s readiness to secure the BARMM Parliamentary Election on September 14, 2026.General Nartatez emphasized the importance of dialogue and strong coordination among stakeholders in preventing violence during the elections.“Aside from that, the lessons learned that we have learned in the past, and of course, aside from that is nagkakaroon tayo ng napakagandang contingencies and whatsoever eventualities na mangyayari,&quot; he said.DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, meanwhile, warned that police personnel assigned to secure the elections in the BARMM will be held accountable should violence occur during the region’s first parliamentary election.&quot;You will be accountable to me and the Chief, PNP. Peace must prevail. That goes with the Armed Forces of the Philippines,&quot; Remulla emphasized.“So let this message come forth, that the Philippines comes in peace, and the Philippines seeks peace where Muslims and Christians come together not because of anything else, but because they are Filipinos wanting to have a better country.  What happens now will redound to Luzon, what happens now will redound to Metro Manila, what happens now will redound to the whole world,&quot; he said.Also in attendance were BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman, Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Maguindanao del Norte Gov. Datu Tucao Mastura, Maguindanao del Sur Gov. Datu Ali Midtimbang, and a reprepresentative of Tawi-Tawi Governor Ishmael Sali.A total of 2,393,202 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots in 5,212 clustered precincts located in 1,186 voting centers across 108 cities and municipalities in the BARMM.
