<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1788069707071785258059_2119606868650669_7675259493483766664_n.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Photo from Philippine Red Cross </div>SUBIC — Two men died while two others were injured after a landslide hit a warehouse area at the Tipo High Tech Park along Tipo Road in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, authorities said.The incident happened past 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, according to Armie Llamas, corporate affairs manager of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).Llamas told ABS-CBN News the landslide started gradually before the soil continued to collapse and reached the area where a dump truck was parked.“No’ng nagsisimula pa lang siyang paunti-unti pa lang siyang gumuguho, naka-park siya doon sa mismong tapat no’ng area na yun e, until yun, nagdire-diretso na nga po dahil siyempre nagkaroon ng space, may maliit na gumuho, so nagdiretso na po siya ng ano. Nag-erode na po siya talaga,” said Llamas.She said it was not raining heavily at the time of the incident.One of those who died was the dump truck driver, while the other fatality was a Chinese national who was reportedly a marketing manager at one of the businesses operating inside the park.Two other workers were also hit by the landslide.Llamas said one of the injured workers was discharged from the hospital Saturday night, while the other remained under treatment.The portion of the property where the landslide occurred is privately leased and is part of the Tipo High Tech Park.Llamas said the affected area had a retaining wall intended to prevent soil erosion.“Supposedly, the retaining wall was built there to prevent yung soil erosion. Kaya lang, syempre nga, because of tatlong linggo na nga yata tayong inuulan, naapektuhan talaga siya,” said Llmas.The SBMA is also looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the exact positions of the victims when the soil collapsed.Clearing operations were underway in the affected area.The bodies of the fatalities were also being coordinated with their respective families, according to the SBMA.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/29/eight-million-affected-by-habagat-recent-tropical-cyclones-ndrrmc-1248">Eight million affected by Habagat, recent tropical cyclones — NDRRMC</a></div>
