Dennis Datu, ABS-CBN News</div>LAGUNA — Several areas of Barangay Pansol in Calamba City, Laguna, a popular tourist destination known for its hot spring resorts, remain submerged in floodwaters.Barangay Chairman Joel Martinez said flooding in Sitio Masagana and Sitio Mapayapa remains more than a foot to as deep as three feet.A total of 79 flood-affected families are currently staying in evacuation centers, while another 176 families have chosen to remain in their homes despite deep floodwaters surrounding their properties.Martinez said the flooding could persist for up to three months before subsiding, similar to what happened last year.He said floodwaters have been receding slowly because water levels in Laguna de Bay remain high.According to Martinez, Barangay Pansol serves as a catch basin, making the community particularly vulnerable to flooding whenever heavy rains occur.The prolonged flooding has severely affected residents’ livelihoods, with many relying on boats to leave their communities to work and earn a living.<div> </div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1788339628219viber_image_2026-09-02_16-05-17-380.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Dennis Datu, ABS-CBN News</div>The flooding has also disrupted the operations of several hot spring resorts, one of the main sources of livelihood for Pansol residents, as many establishments remain inundated.The Laguna provincial government has sent sacks of rice to provide food assistance to residents affected by the flooding.
