MANILA &mdash; Media personnel who will cover the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) are advised to follow security protocols and should be responsible with their commentaries and coverage, the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) said on Thursday.&nbsp;The PTFoMS had conducted several safety and security training workshops ahead of the first Bangsamoro election to make sure that media would be prepared for any eventuality, PTFOMS executive director Usec. Jose Torres Jr. told state television PTV. &ldquo;Ang detalye doon halimbawa, wag sila pupunta sa mga lugar na hindi dapat puntahan, huwag sumama sa convoy ng mga politicians at kung may mangyari man ay paano sila dadapa, paano sila tatakbo,&rdquo; he said.The PTFoMS has also forged a partnership with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to address potential online threats and harassment against members of the free press, he said. &ldquo;24/7 po yun during the BARMM elections. Naka live po ang ating monitoring sa areas kung saan may journalists,&rdquo; the official said. &ldquo;Dapat po sabihin po nila agad sa atin para matrace kung saan yun at kung may batayan. May kasama din po tayong mga lawyers para magsampa ng kaso,&rdquo; he said.It is crucial for the Philippine government to ensure that the first BARMM elections would be peaceful, successful and transparent, Torres said. &ldquo;Ang election process na ito ay tinitingnan nila bilang isang model so importante na makita hindi lamang ng bansang Pilipinas at sambayanan kung hindi ng buong mundo na ito ay successful,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Wag niyong sagkaan ang malayang pamamahayag. Wag ninyong iprevent yung media sa malayang pamamahayag,&rdquo; he said.Torres also warned members of the media to ensure that they would not dabble in politicking while covering the polls in Mindanao. &ldquo;Pinapaalalahan natin yung mga kasamahan natin sa meedia na maging responsable po, maging ethical sa practice ng journalism kasi kapag nagpapagamit ka sa pulitiko para banatan yung kalaban na pulitiko, parang nagiinvite ka na din ng threat sa iyong sarili,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Hindi natin sinasabi na hindi dapat i-criticize ang mga tumatakbo&hellip; subalit kailangan po maging responsable tayo sa ating kritisismo,&rdquo; he said.The BARMM elections is set to take place on September 14, which will give Bangsamoro residents a chance to elect parliamentary representatives after decades of armed struggle plagued the region.
