MANILA — A Malacanang official said cybersecurity is a new concern in the government&#x27;s hosting of the Association of South East Asian Nations Summit in 2026.During a Senate hearing on the budget of the Office of the President, Undersecretary Leonardo Roy Cervantes told senators that the Philippines needs to show that it can host such an event &quot;without any glitch.&quot;&quot;And we&#x27;re hoping that the summit will not have any, you know, will not be cyber attack or something, because that would be a big embarrassment for our country,&quot; Cervantes said. The 2026 National Expenditure Program appropriates P17.5 billion for the Philippine hosting of the ASEAN Summit and related meetings in 2026. Of that amount, P10.8 billion will be for the Office of the President.Cervantes told the panel that they have a national organizing committee that is already functioning. Cervantes said there will be 2 summits along with other meetings.For the May summit, 11 heads of state are expected, but more are expected in the other summit later in the year.Cervantes said the Philippine International Convention Center is still the main proposed venue.
