<p>Months after shutting down computer apps, Meta’s Messenger will also be pulling the plug on its dedicated website, messenger.com, starting April 2026.</p><div>In an advisory, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, said users will automatically redirect to facebook.com/messages after the Messenger website shuts down. The Messenger app for iOS and Android is unaffected.<img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1771331811175HBXAEfQbcAIrXf4.jpeg" style="width:960px;display:block;height:auto" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><p>Those who stand to lose the most are users who are using the service without a Facebook account, as they can no longer access their chats on the web.</p><p>Messenger was launched as its own standalone app in 2011, years after Facebook launched its instant messaging feature Facebook Chat.</p><p>In December 2025, Meta pulled the plug on the standalone Messenger app for Windows and Mac.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/technology/2025/10/20/messenger-app-for-windows-mac-shutting-down-1218">Messenger app for Windows, Mac shutting down</a></div>
