MANILA – Google on Thursday unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence upgrades for its Chrome browser in the Philippines, deploying its latest Gemini 3.1 model to transform how users interact with web content and personal data.The tech giant said the rollout, initially available on desktop and iOS, integrates a &quot;personalized browsing assistant&quot; directly into the browser’s interface. The update marks a significant step in the race to make web browsers more than just gateways to information, turning them into active workstations.&quot;Whether you need to synthesize a complex article or spark a new idea, you can now do so without losing your place on the web,&quot; Google said in a statement. Through a new side panel, the AI can &quot;summarize lengthy web content, perform tasks like creating a pop quiz for your upcoming final, answer questions like &#x27;how can I make this recipe vegan?&#x27; and even remember pages you’ve previously visited.&quot;A key feature of the update is the deep integration with Google’s broader ecosystem, including Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. This allows users to &quot;compose and send emails without leaving your current page&quot; or organize complex logistics across multiple open tabs. For instance, the company noted that the AI can consolidate research into a single view or &quot;create a table comparing the key details of products across sites.&quot;The enhancement also introduces visual AI capabilities via the Nano Banana 2 model, allowing users to &quot;transform images on the fly&quot; via text prompts. Google suggested the tool could allow users to &quot;become your own interior designer, mixing and matching furniture before ever making a purchase.&quot;Addressing growing concerns over AI-related vulnerabilities, Google emphasized its &quot;security by design&quot; framework. The company stated it has &quot;trained its models to recognize known threats like prompt injection to keep people safe as they browse.&quot; To prevent unintended AI actions, the system includes &quot;safeguards to ask for confirmation before taking certain sensitive actions, like sending an email or adding an event to your calendar.&quot;The Philippines launch serves as a bridgehead for a wider regional expansion, with Google promising to add &quot;more capabilities and expanding into even more regions and languages throughout the year.&quot;
