Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News </div>MANILA — Acer is officially expanding its PC gaming empire into the handheld space. Ahead of Computex 2026, the company announced the Predator Atlas 8, an ambitious Windows 11 handheld designed to challenge the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. But instead of the usual AMD silicon, Acer is betting big on Intel’s brand-new architecture.Under the hood, the Atlas 8 is powered by the new Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, paired with up to Intel Arc B390 graphics. It’s an interesting choice that brings Intel’s Battlemage architecture to the handheld space, packing hardware-accelerated ray tracing and AI-powered XeSS 3 upscaling to keep frame rates steady without melting your battery.To prevent the device from becoming a pocket-sized furnace, Acer said it is utilizing its signature Predator AeroBlade cooling system. The Atlas 8 features a dual-fan layout that includes the industry&#x27;s first metal fan in a handheld, which Acer claims boosts airflow by 10 percent alongside its custom Vortex Flow tuning.Up front, games will live on an 8-inch WUXGA touchscreen display running at a smooth 120Hz. Crucially, it features Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support—a must-have spec for smoothing out the inevitable frame rate dips of mobile PC gaming.Acer is also taking direct aim at the battery anxiety that plagues devices like the Lenovo Legion Go. The Atlas 8 packs a massive 80 Wh battery, bolstered by Intel’s &quot;Endurance Gaming&quot; tech, which intelligently throttles power draw to squeeze every last drop of juice out of your session. Pricing and availability remain under wraps, but Acer’s entry ensures the handheld format war is just getting started.We&#x27;ll be covering this new device along with other gadgets from Acer, as well as other device makers at Computex, which will be held in Taipei from June 2-5. Stay tuned for the latest tech from Computex.
