MANILA — The Philippine government and Google Cloud announced Monday an expanded, multi-year partnership to integrate enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity systems into public services, aiming to streamline bureaucracy and secure national infrastructure.  Google said the Department of Information and Communications Technology&#x27;s initiative aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, by introducing an &quot;AI Agents for Public Sector&quot; program alongside a cross-agency cyber defense alliance to transition the country into a secure digital economy.  Google said that under the program, the DICT has made Google’s Gemini Enterprise and Workspace tools available via a centralized government e-commerce procurement platform. The agency plans to equip more than 50,000 public servants with the Gemini Enterprise app to deploy context-aware AI assistants. The technology will allow citizens to use local languages to instantly navigate administrative tasks, such as tracking permit applications or accessing disaster relief.  Google said DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda has tapped Google Cloud to provide citizens access to public services and high-speed connectivity within a secure online environment. &quot;We’re empowering our public servants with world-class AI tools and upskilling programs to help them remove bureaucratic friction, optimize public sector productivity, and deliver seamless, next-generation services that better serve and uplift our people in every community,” Aguda was quoted by Google.  To counter escalating digital threats, the DICT Cybersecurity Bureau has deployed Google Cloud Cybershield at the National Security Operations Center. Personnel from 56 government agencies have been onboarded to the system, which is currently securing the digital infrastructure of the ongoing ASEAN Summits hosted by the Philippines, Google said.  The partnership additionally complements national connectivity targets through the extension of Google&#x27;s trans-Pacific subsea cable networks, TPU and Apricot, to deliver high-bandwidth data capacities required for local AI scaling.
