LAGUNA — The Laguna provincial government is set to build a modern, state-of-the-art command center aimed at significantly improving the province’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.Gov. Sol Aragones announced the construction of the Laguna Command Center in response to the growing threats posed by natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and flooding.Aragones said she was disappointed to discover when she took office that the province’s command center was virtually a “ghost town,” lacking essential equipment needed for disaster monitoring and public warning operations.She said only two CCTV cameras are currently operational at the command center.“At ito ang hindi nyo kakayanin, sa socia media at sa report ng PAGASA sila umano kumukuha ng impormasyon naibibigay sa publiko,” Aragones said.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/08/11/23/japanese-firm-eyes-bringing-ai-tech-to-ph-for-real-time-emergencies">Japanese firm eyes bringing AI tech to PH to identify emergencies in real-time</a></div>The new Laguna Command Center will feature 30 AI-ready CCTV cameras strategically installed across all municipalities and cities in the province, enabling authorities to monitor flooding, accidents, and other emergencies in real time for faster response.An Eagle Eye Camera will also be installed at the Landing Point in Nagcarlan, providing a panoramic view of the entire province to enhance situational awareness during emergencies.The facility will be equipped with large LED video walls, 10 monitoring screens, and round-the-clock personnel working in shifts to ensure 24/7 operations and uninterrupted public service.The governor also announced plans to install an Automated Weather Station and deploy an in-house meteorologist to provide localized weather forecasting and strengthen the province’s early warning system.“Mahalaga po sa kahit anong sakuna  na handa tayo dito, at the end of the day, buhay ng kababayan natin  ang nakasalalay dito,”  Aragones said.Construction of the new Laguna Command Center is expected to begin before the end of the year.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/7/marcos-greenlights-new-initiatives-on-disaster-resilience-energy-ai-2037">Marcos greenlights new initiatives on disaster resilience, energy, AI</a></div>
