MANILA — Paolo intensified into a severe tropical storm on Thursday night.Wind Signal No. 3 is now up over:<div> </div>• Extreme northern Aurora• Central and southern Isabela• Northern Quirino• Northern Nueva Vizcaya• Mountain Province• Ifugao• Northern Benguet<div> </div>At 10 p.m. Thursday, Severe Tropical Storm Paolo was located 320 km east of Baler, Aurora.It now packs winds of 95 kph, with gusts up to 115 kph, and is moving westward at 30 kph.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/10/2/paolo-to-bring-heavy-rains-to-parts-of-luzon-on-friday-october-3-2141">Paolo to bring heavy rains to parts of Luzon on Friday, October 3 </a></div>Paolo will make landfall over southern Isabela or northern Aurora Friday morning then cross Northern Luzon and be over the West Philippine Sea Friday evening.It may be out of the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning.Further intensification into a typhoon before landfall is not ruled out, which may warrant the raising of Wind Signal No. 4.A southward shift in Paolo’s track will depend on the strength of the high pressure area north of Luzon.Paolo will bring heavy rains across Luzon through Friday evening, with torrential rainfall expected in Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora.The western sections of Northern and Central Luzon may still have moderate to heavy rains once the storm is over the West Philippine Sea.Widespread and serious flooding and landslides are expected in many areas.Paolo’s strong winds may also generate up to three meters storm surge over the northern and eastern coasts of Luzon, especially eastern Cagayan, Isabela, and northern Aurora.
