DOST-Pagasa</div><div style="text-align:left"> </div>MANILA — Verbena is now nearing severe tropical storm strength as it moves farther away from land.It made its seventh landfall over Linapacan, Palawan at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday before crossing over to the West Philippine Sea.At 4 a.m. Wednesday, Verbena was located 130 km west of Coron, Palawan. It is now packing winds of 85 kph and gusts up to 105 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 25 kph.Wind signal no. 2 is still hoisted over Calamian Islands and extreme northern mainland Palawan.Occidental Mindoro and northern and central Palawan, including Cuyo and Kalayaan Islands remain under signal no. 1.Verbena, with international name Koto, will reach severe tropical storm category this afternoon and exit the Philippine area of responsibility early Thursday.This Wednesday, the disturbance may still bring heavy rains in MIMAROPA, with intense rainfall likely in Palawan.Meanwhile, the shear line will continue to affect eastern part of Luzon through Friday, with intense rains expected in Isabela, Cagayan, and Apayao.Flooding and landslides remain likely in some areas of Northern Luzon and MIMAROPA.
