<div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/L2jMAMaPXoo?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>MANILA — Fung-Wong, the second cyclone to hit the Philippines in November and the country’s 21st storm, will be a “very intense and enormous cyclone” with a diameter that spans Batanes to the northern tip of Zamboanga, weather bureau PAGASA warned Friday.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/7/fung-wong-intensifies-into-severe-tropical-storm-0651">Fung-wong intensifies as it roars closer to PAR</a></div><p>Fung-Wong is forecast to enter the Philippines’ area of responsibility Friday evening or Saturday morning, where it will be assigned the name Uwan.</p><p>“Ito ay mapanganib na weather system. Dahil sa kanyang malawak na sirkulasyon, ito ay may radius na more than 700 km at strong intensity. [Uwan] is likely to bring destructive winds, intense to torrential rains, and dangerous storm surges - conditions that can lead to widespread flooding, landslides, and severe coastal inundation in vulnerable areas,” DOST-PAGASA administrator Nathaniel Servando said in a press briefing.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/7/quezon-city-prepares-for-uwan-says-forced-evacuation-possible-1236">Quezon City prepares for &#x27;Uwan&#x27;, says forced evacuation possible</a></div><p>“We cannot emphasize enough, now is the time to prepare,&quot; he added.</p><p>In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Fung-Wong was estimated based on all available data at 1,315 km east of Eastern Visayas, packing 100 kph winds near the center and gusts of up to 125 kph. The cyclone is moving west northwestward at 20 kph.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;NAPAKALAWAK&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja noted the size of the storm, which is packing strong to storm-force winds with a radius of 720 km.</p><p>“Kung mapapansin po nila napakalawak po itong bagyong ito with the radius of 720 km. So ‘yung buong diameter po niya naglalaro sa 1,400 to 1,450 km, which is approximately, ‘yung 1,400 is like a distance po from Batanes down to the northern tip of Zamboanga,” he said.</p><p>“By that time, ito po ay nasa typhoon category na nasa around 120 to 130 kph ang taglay na hangin. Simula naman po bukas hanggang sa Lunes, generally west-northwest ang tinatahak nito na direksyon. And possible habang nandito sa Philippine Sea pagsating ng linggo, ay lalakas pa ito bilang isang super typhoon,” Estareja added.</p><p>He noted the typhoon will undergo rapid intensification, with winds reaching up to 195 kph. Because of the size of the storm, inclement weather conditions will be felt as early as Saturday evening with strong winds affecting Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Central Visayas, Mimaropa and Calabarzon.</p><p>The typhoon is forecast to make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern portion of Aurora late Sunday or early Monday.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RAINFALL</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Estareja said most of Luzon and the Visayas will be affected by the cyclone’s winds and rain “with strong emphasis in the Eastern Visayas, Bicol region and with an almost direct hit on Catanduanes.”</p><p>“Metro Manila and nearby areas din maaapektuhan directly ng ating binabantayan na si [Uwan],” he said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/7/walang-pasok-class-suspensions-on-nov-10-and-11-due-to-potential-super-typhoon-1434">Walang Pasok: Class suspensions on Nov. 10 and 11 due to potential super typhoon</a></div><p>He noted Catanduanes will experience 200mm of rain starting Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon while other areas will experience lesser rainfall: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, and Camarines Norte will experience 100-200 mm of rain while Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Masbate, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Aurora, Quirino, Isabela, and Cagayan will experience 50-100 mm of rain.</p><p>Rains, however, are expected to intensify by Sunday noon until it makes landfall all the way to Monday afternoon.</p><p>“Halos buong Northern Luzon except Batanes ay magkakaroon ng 200mm ng dami ng ulan in a 24-hour period or higit pa,” Estareja said. </p><p>These include Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.</p><p>Metro Manila, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan will experience 100mm-200mm of rain on Sunday-Monday noon. </p><p>Batanes, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aklan, Antique, and Northern Samar will experience 50-100mm of rain during the same period.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/6/jtwc-potential-super-typhoon-uwan-to-reach-peak-intensity-off-bicol-1631">JTWC: Potential super typhoon Uwan may reach peak intensity off Bicol</a></div><p>PAGASA warned there is also a potential for high storm surge risk and related coastal flooding, especially in Northern Luzon and the east coast of Central and Southern Luzon.
