MANILA -- Another weather disturbance that could potentially turn into a tropical cyclone may form over the Philippine Sea next week.

This means continued rains over several parts of the country, which is already reeling from the effects of storm Crising and the lingering southwest monsoon.

ABS-CBN's resident weather forecaster Ariel Rojas said if the LPA develops into a tropical cyclone by midweek, it will be named Dante.

It will enhance the habagat and bring monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas through Saturday.

Scattered rains are also expected over the rest of Luzon and Negros. Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will also experience afternoon thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila will experience cloudy with scattered to occasional rains during the week, with the rains heaviest Tuesday through Thursday. Improving conditions are expected by weekend.

There will be threats of serious and widespread flooding and landslides, especially due to antecedent precipitation and during periods of prolonged and heavy rainfall.
