MANILA — The habagat or southwest monsoon will bring more rains in vast swaths of the country on Monday, PAGASA said, as it monitored a low pressure area off Luzon. The LPA was 1,140 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon at 3 a.m., the state weather bureau said. The weather disturbance &quot;has a medium potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,&quot; PAGASA said. Meanwhile, the habagat will bring at times intense rains over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, the weather agency said. It said Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Oriental Mindoro would also experience occasional rains due to the habagat. “Itong pag-ulan na inaasahan natin ngayong araw sa mga nabanggit na lugar ay posible pa rin po itong mag-cause ng mga baha at landslide po sa mga bulubunduking lugar,” PAGASA weather forecaster Ana Clauren Jordan told DZMM.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/21/la-mesa-dam-nears-spilling-level-ipo-dam-releases-water-1025">La Mesa Dam nears spilling level; Ipo Dam releases water</a> </div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1753059814207philippines_band_13_20250720211000.gif" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>RAMB/US NOAA/Himawari</div>PAGASA said Visayas, the rest of Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao could expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will see improving weather that may be marred by isolated rains in the afternoon or evening.   Heavy rains from the habagat enhanced by tropical cyclone Crising last week <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/21/5-dead-due-to-habagat-crising-ndrrmc-0831">left at least five people dead</a>, the disaster agency said. The weather disturbance affected some 225,000 families or around 800,000 individuals. Around 5,900 families or 20,000 people sought shelter at evacuation centers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. <div> </div>
