<p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) — Malacanang has suspended classes and government work in Metro Manila and dozens of provinces on July 23, Wednesday due to heavy rains from the southwest monsoon or habagat. </p><p>The suspension covered the following areas, based on a Palace memorandum. </p><ul><li id="isPasted">Metro Manila</li><li>Pangasinan</li><li>Zambales</li><li>Tarlac</li><li>Bataan</li><li>Pampanga</li><li>Bulacan</li><li>Cavite </li><li>Batangas </li><li>Rizal </li><li>Occidental Mindoro</li><li>Ilocos Norte</li><li>Ilocos Sur </li><li>La Union</li><li>Quezon </li><li>Oriental Mindoro</li><li>Marinduque</li><li>Romblon</li><li>Masbate</li><li>Sorsogon</li><li>Albay</li><li>Camarines Sur</li><li>Catanduanes</li><li>Palawan</li><li>Antique</li><li>Aklan </li><li>Capiz </li><li>Iloilo </li><li>Guimaras</li><li>Abra</li><li>Mountain Province</li><li>Ifugao</li><li>Benguet </li><li>Nueva Vizcaya</li><li>Nueva Ecija</li><li>Laguna</li><li>Negros Occidental </li></ul><div><br/></div><p>The Palace said agencies responsible for vital and health services “must continue to remain operational to ensure continuity of essential government functions despite the declaration of work suspension.”</p><p>Local governments may also implement localized cancellation or suspension of classes and work in government offices, it added. </p><p>The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, the Palace added.</p><p>Meanwhile, work at the House of Representatives will remain suspended on Wednesday, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco announced through a memorandum issued Tuesday afternoon. </p><p>&quot;In view of the inclement weather, work in the House of Representatives shall be suspended on July 23, 2025.
