Sebaste MDRRMO</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The death toll from heavy rains brought by the habagat and tropical cyclone Crising hit 6 on Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.</p><p>Out of the six reported fatalities, three were from Northern Mindanao while Mimaropa, Davao and Caraga regions tallied one each, the NDRRMC said. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/7/22/habagat-dumps-almost-a-month-s-rain-in-cavite-2-weeks-of-rain-in-qc-1049">Habagat dumps almost a month&#x27;s rain in Cavite, 2 weeks of rain in QC</a></div><p>Two individuals died after a tree fell on their house in Barangay Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin. Another fatality was reported in Barangay Sto. Niño, Tubod, Lanao del Norte, when a coconut tree struck a house.</p><p>A fallen tree also hit a male motorcycle rider in Barangay Matin-ao, Mainit, Surigao del Norte, resulting in his death.</p><p>Meanwhile, five people were reported injured, and six others remain missing in several regions.</p><p>Among the reported incidents was the drowning of three children—two aged 13 and one aged 11—at Pocalary Creek in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Caloocan.</p><p>Initial reports indicated that the three were playing near the creek during a heavy downpour. Allegedly, one of the 13-year-old boys accidentally pushed the other two into the water, which was about three feet deep. One of the children was rescued by bystanders, but the 11-year-old boy remained missing.</p><p>The weather disturbance affected some 362,000 families or around 1.2 million individuals. Nearly 5,000 families or 17,000 people sought shelter at evacuation centers, the NDRRMC said.</p><p>It said the heavy rains damaged about 1,500 houses.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/22/marcos-suspends-all-pre-sona-preps-as-ph-suffers-severe-flooding-1122">Marcos suspends SONA preps as PH suffers severe flooding</a></div><p>Strong winds and heavy rains also damaged several roads and bridges, and disrupted power, water supply, and communication lines in various areas. </p><p>The NDRRMC pegged the cost of damage to infrastructure at around P413 million and the agricultural damage at P54 million.</p><p>A state of calamity has been declared in Umingan, Pangasinan, which reported widespread flooding affecting 6,076 families or 22,444 individuals.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELIEF EFFORTS</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><p>The Department of Social Welfare and Development said it was assisting local governments in providing the immediate needs of affected families, with a total  of 92,590 family food packs released since Crising skirted the country on Friday.</p><p>“Alam naman natin first line of response ay ang mga LGUs pero alam natin na limited ang kanilang capacity. Alinsunod sa kautusan ng Pangulo, sinisiguro ng DSWD na ready tayo na sumuporta sa mga LGUs para mabigyan ng tuloy tuloy na pagkain ang mga affected families lalo na ang mga nasa evacuation centers,” DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said in a press briefing. </p><p>He said the DSWD prepositioned some 3 million packs in 1,000 warehouses across the country even before Crising.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Department of Health said it prepositioned P31 million worth of emergency medicines and logistics to assist LGUs in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao.</p><p>“Meron pang nakaantabay na P180 million na mga emergency medicines and logistics na hindi pa natin nadedeploy pero kapag kailangan po ay ating papakawalan,” DOH Spokesperson Albert Domingo said in the same briefing.</p><p>“Tuloy din po ang pag-ikot ng mga DOH and local government doctors sa lahat ng evacuation centers sa utos ng Pangulo,” he continued.</p><p>The DOH official reminded residents to heed evacuation warnings of local authorities and ensure the cleanliness of drinking water by using chlorine tablets or boiling it for at least two minutes.</p><p>“Kung tayo ay napalusong sa baha… nandito po ang DOH at mga LGU doctors, pwede namin kayong resetahan ng prophylaxis para hindi tayo magkaroon ng leptospirosis. Ang sintomas ng lepto hindi lumalabas yan in the next few days, mga two weeks later pa ho.
