Joan Bondoc, PNA</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — The death toll from monsoon rains driven by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante and Emong has risen to 37, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday. </p><p>Metro Manila accounted for 9 deaths, followed by Calabarzon with 8 and Western Visayas with 6. </p><p>The Cordilleras, Negros Island, and Northern Mindanao recorded 3 fatalities each, while Central Luzon logged 2. Mimaropa, Davao Region, and Caraga tallied one death each. </p><p>The weather disturbance injured 22 people and left 8 others missing. </p><p>Some 7.6 million people were affected by the inclement weather, with around 100,000 people seeking shelter at evacuation centers. </p><p>The heavy rains, which spawned floods and landslides in various areas, damaged around 46,000 houses. </p><p>The NDRRMC pegged the cost of damage at about P10 billion for infrastructure and P1.9 billion for agriculture. </p><p>The Philippines shut down schools and cancelled flights earlier this month due to the cyclone-driven monsoon rains. </p><p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last week said that climate change meant <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/24/marcos-says-filipinos-need-mindset-shift-as-typhoons-become-inevitable-1505">Filipinos needed to be thinking about how to adapt to a &quot;new normal&quot;.</a></p><p>&quot;This is not an extraordinary situation anymore...
