Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Rains are expected in the coming days as a low pressure area (LPA) approaches the country this week.The LPA, which is currently located east of Mindanao, will graze the eastern sections of Visayas and Southern Luzon Monday and Tuesday before crossing Luzon on Wednesday, according to ABS-CBN&#x27;s weather forecaster Ariel Rojas.It has higher chance of storm formation once over the West Philippine Sea and will be named &quot;Jacinto.&quot;<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/8/24/lpa-east-of-mindanao-has-high-potential-to-become-tropical-cyclone-pagasa-1936">READ: LPA east of Mindanao has &#x27;high potential&#x27; to become tropical cyclone -- PAGASA</a></div>The weather disturbance may be out of the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday. The potential storm is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat, which will affect mostly the areas in central and southern Philippines through midweek and western Luzon thereafter. The extension of the LPA will bring scattered rains over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Monday. More areas in Luzon will be affected by the disturbance as it approaches and crossed Luzon on Tuesday and Wednesday. The enhanced Habagat will bring monsoon rains over MIMAROPA, Visayas especially Panay and Negros, and western and central Mindanao Tuesday to Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the trough of the disturbance and the habagat will still dump rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.  Metro Manila experience scattered rains from the crossing weather disturbance and the enhanced monsoon from Tuesday to Thursday. The rest of the week will see sunny mornings and afternoon thunderstorms. Flooding and landslides are possible during occasions of prolonged and heavy rains.Another LPA may also enter the PAR by weekend, with low potential for development into a tropical cyclone.<div> </div>
