It is moving north northwestward at 15 kph and was spotted 1,225 km east of southeastern Luzon at 4 a.m. Thursday.Nando will steadily intensify up to typhoon strength while moving generally northwestward over the Philippine Sea.It may reach its peak intensity before passing very close to or over the Batanes-Babuyan area Tuesday next week.Raising of wind signal no. 1 over parts of Northern Luzon is likely as early as Saturday.Signal no. 5 may be the highest wind warning to be hoisted during the passage of Nando.Nando is not expected to directly affect the country’s weather in the next two days but may stir heavy monsoon rains over the western parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila from Sunday or Monday.The public is advised to continue monitoring updates on this potential super typhoon.
