DOST-Pagasa</span></span></span></div><p style="text-align:left">MANILA<strong> (3rd UPDATE)</strong> — Life-threatening conditions are imminent over Extreme Northern Luzon as Super Typhoon Nando passes close to the Babuyan Islands.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/9/22/signal-no-5-up-as-super-typhoon-threatens-babuyan-islands-0650">Signal No 5 up as super typhoon threatens Babuyan Islands</a></div><p>Very violent winds, torrential rains, and storm surge exceeding three meters are expected along the immediate path of the super typhoon, which may make landfall over or pass very close to the island group at noon or early afternoon.</p><p>The entire Babuyan island group is now placed under Wind Signal no. 5.</p><p>Signal no. 4 is hoisted over southern Batanes and the northern sections of mainland Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/9/22/3-meter-storm-surges-threaten-batanes-cagayan-ilocos-norte-1053">3-meter storm surges threaten Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte</a></div><p>At 1 p.m. Monday, Nando was over the coastal waters of Babuyan Island of Calayan, Cagayan.</p><p>It packs winds of 215 kph with gustiness up to 265 kph and is moving westward at 25 kph.</p><p>The super typhoon may exit the Philippine area of responsibility Tuesday morning.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;ON ALERT&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said he is closely monitoring developments, situation in different provinces affected by super typhoon Nando.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/9/22/evacuees-in-philippines-taiwan-take-shelter-as-super-typhoon-nando-nears-0927">Evacuees in Philippines, Taiwan take shelter as super typhoon Nando nears</a></div><p>Marcos said reports coming into his office indicated that strong winds prevailed in some provinces.</p><p>“Nakatanggap tayo ng mga ulat mula sa iba’t ibang probinsya ukol sa Bagyong Nando.
