Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File </div>MANILA — The northeast monsoon or Amihan continued to bring cool weather across Luzon, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao on Monday, according to PAGASA.This follows the 2025-2026 Amihan season’s record-breaking cold snap over the weekend.The temperature in Baguio City remained biting at 10.0°C, a slight rise from Sunday’s 9.4°C.Nearby La Trinidad, Benguet was slightly warmer at 11.4°C.The nippy weather was also felt in southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.In the Bicol Region, Juban, Sorsogon recorded 18.7°C, colder than Sunday’s 19.8°C.Virac, Catanduanes experienced a rare dip below 20°C, recording 19.4°C.In Visayas, Catbalogan City plunged to 18.0°C, its new all-time low for the month of March.Borongan City registered 18.7°C, while Panglao, Bohol measured 19.6°C, up from the previous day’s 18.7°C.In Mindanao, Malaybalay City dropped further to 14.4°C, its coldest temperature in more than a decade.Butuan City also recorded a second consecutive cold day below 20°C ,with 19.9°C after Sunday’s 19.6°C.Other areas that posted temperatures below 20°C included the following. <ul><li>16.8°C        Tanay, Rizal</li><li>17.6°C        Laoag City, Ilocos Norte</li><li>17.8°C        Basco, Batanes</li><li>18.0°C        Casiguran, Aurora</li><li>18.0°C        Echague, Isabela</li><li>18.5°C        Abucay, Bataan</li><li>18.9°C        Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija</li><li>19.0°C        San Ildefonso, Bulacan</li><li>19.5°C        Sinait, Ilocos Sur</li><li>19.8°C        Dagupan City, Pangasinan</li></ul><div> </div>In Metro Manila, the Science Garden PAGASA station in Quezon City recorded 20.4°C, a sharp increase from Sunday’s season record of 17.1°C.Aside from brisk conditions, Amihan also continues to bring light to occasionally moderate rains over eastern Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, and Bicol Region. On the other hand, Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the northern portions of Mindanao will have generally fair weather with occasional cloudiness and passing or isolated light rains.As the Amihan weakens, the warm and humid Easterlies are expected to gradually dominate the country from midweek, bringing higher temperatures by the weekend.PAGASA has yet to announce the end of the Amihan season, given the continued presence of the cold and dry northeasterly winds.Since 2010,<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/3/13/not-tag-init-yet-as-strong-amihan-reaches-mindanao-0808"> the warm and dry season </a>has typically begun during the second half of March.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/3/2/el-nino-may-return-in-2026-and-make-planet-even-hotter-1451">El Nino may return in 2026 and make planet even hotter</a> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/3/5/-normal-dry-season-expected-but-rising-el-ni-o-risk-could-intensify-habagat-0628">&#x27;Normal&#x27; dry season expected, but rising El Niño risk could intensify habagat </a></div>
