MANILA — Parts of Metro Manila and Laguna were submerged in floods due to heavy rains from Saturday evening until early Sunday.Among the affected areas was G. Lazaro Road in Barangay Dalandanan, Valenzuela City, where floodwaters reached gutter-deep.Mark Anthony Payas, a resident along G. Lazaro Road, said the waters rose quickly but noted that locals have already grown accustomed to the situation.“Sanay na po kasi taon-taon naman po dadanasin n’yo ‘to,” he said.<div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=315&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F981146161190446%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="315" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>Meanwhile, a knee-deep flood—which immediately subsided—was reported along the southbound lane of C5-Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City.Parts of EDSA-Ortigas in Mandaluyong City also experienced gutter-deep floods but remained passable to all types of vehicles.Outside Metro Manila, localized floods also hit Laguna province.In Barangay Balibag in Santa Rosa City, commuters were seen pushing their motorcycles and tricycles through floodwaters, while some residents braved the knee-deep floods to reach their destinations.In Barangay Pulong Sta. Cruz, also in Santa Rosa City, a vehicle stalled as it attempted to traverse an inundated road.The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the easterlies are affecting Mindanao, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas, while localized thunderstorms triggered the inclement weather in Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago.
