MANILA — Typhoon Inday accelerated slightly as it continues to move northwestward towards the southern islands of Japan.At 10 p.m. Friday, Typhoon Inday was located 485 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.It packs winds of 140 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 170 kph and is moving northwestward at 25 kph.Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains up over Batanes while Signal No. 1 is still in effect in Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northeastern Isabela, Apayao, and northern and central Ilocos Norte.Inday will exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning, July 11.Inday-enhanced Habagat will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over Negros and Western Visayas through the weekend and the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon as well as Metro Manila, Pangasinan, La Union, and Benguet until Monday.The risk of widespread and serious flooding and landslides remains high across many areas.The public is advised to continuously monitor weather updates and take necessary actions to protect life and property.
