<p>MANILA -- The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has offered a list of alternative routes in light of the heavy traffic expected during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA).</p><p>Traffic is expected to build up along Commonwealth Avenue, IBP Road and other major roads around the House of Representatives.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/16/sona-2026-preps-expenditures-toned-down-amid-crisis-house-official-1444" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">SONA 2026 preps, expenditures &#x27;toned down&#x27; amid &#x27;crisis&#x27;—House official</a></div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/20/marcos-5th-sona-to-be-simple-but-dignified-palace-1557" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Marcos 5th SONA to be &#x27;simple but dignified&#x27;—Palace</a></div><p>The MMDA said the following are the alternative routes:</p><div><strong>Northbound (From Quezon Memorial Circle to Fairview)</strong></div><p>- From Elliptical Road (QMC), vehicles should take North Avenue, turn right to Mindanao Avenue, then turn right on Sauyo Road or take Quirino Highway going to their destination.</p><div><strong>Southbound (From Fairview going to Quezon Memorial Circle)</strong></div><p>- To Elliptical Road (QMC), vehicles from Commonwealth Avenue should take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, turn left to Mindanao Avenue, then left to North Avenue going to their destination.</p><div><strong>For trucks:</strong></div><p>- All trucks from C-5 Road or Katipunan Avenue should take the Luzon flyover, then turn right to Congressional Avenue going to their destination.</p><div><strong>For light vehicles:</strong></div><p>- Light vehicles from C-5 Road should turn left to Magiting, right turn to Maginhawa, left turn to Mayaman, then to Kalayaan going to their destination.</p><p>The MMDA said it will deploy 1,481 personnel to manage traffic within the vicinity of the House of Representatives.</p>
