‘Kiyapo’ nears typhoon strength as it moves toward PAR exit

<div> </div>MANILA — Tropical storm Kiyapo (international name: Noul) is now nearing typhoon strength while moving away from Babuyan Islands.At 10 p.m., it was located 140 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.It packs winds of 110 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 135 kph and is moving west northwestward at 30 kph.Wind signal no. 2 is still up in Batanes and western Babuyan Islands. The rest of Cagayan, northern Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur remain under signal no. 1.Kiyapo will exit the Philippine area of responsibility early Saturday.Moderate to intense rainfall may still be experienced over parts of Northern Luzon, Zambales, and MIMAROPA through Saturday and in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan on Sunday.Flooding and landslides may still be possible in these areas.
