<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1783297200898739276850_1447190127433709_8519235916323316215_n (2).jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">As of 3:00 AM today, 06 July 2026, a Super Typhoon with international name &quot;BAVI&quot; is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).<em> DOST-Pagasa</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Super typhoon Bavi battered the island of Rota in the Mariana Islands on Monday morning as its eyewall pummeled the island with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour on Monday morning.</p><p>The monster storm’s gusts reach up to 265 kph.</p><p>Ahead of the super typhoon’s eyewall arrival, the United States National Weather Service Guam office warned residents to take cover, saying the catastrophic winds would create “extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation.”</p><p>Conditions across Guam and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands began deteriorating Sunday morning as Bavi approached.</p><p>As of 3 a.m. Monday, PAGASA said the super typhoon was located 2,355 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon – still too far to affect the country’s weather.</p><p>Most parts of the Philippines will continue to experience warm and humid conditions on Monday as the monsoon break persists.</p><p>A ridge of a high pressure area east of Taiwan is also extending over the Extreme Northern Luzon.</p><p>However, localized rain showers or thunderstorms may be expected in the afternoon or evening, especially over Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Mindoro, Palawan, Panay, Negros, and Mindanao.</p><p>Bavi may enter the Philippine area of responsibility late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning and will be assigned the local name Inday.</p><p>It is not forecast to make landfall over the Philippine landmass but may pass close to Batanes as it approaches Taiwan by weekend.</p><p>“Ang pagbugso ng malakas na hangin ay mararanasan bukas at Miyerkules sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa dulot ng bagyo at southwest monsoon.
