It was packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour and up to 240 kph gusts, the state weather bureau said. </p><p>From Thursday noon to Friday noon, heavy rainfall is expected over Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur. </p><p>Occidental Mindoro and Antique will continue to experience 100 to 200 mm or 4 to 8 inches of rain from Friday noon to Saturday noon. Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, and Lanao del Norte can expect 2 to 4 inches of rain. </p><p>Flooding and landslides are possible in these areas, PAGASA warned. </p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ihBwP4fEk7c?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>PAGASA has raised signal no. 1 over the following areas, where 39 to 61 kph winds are expected in 36 hours. </p><ul><li>Batanes</li><li>Cagayan including Babuyan Islands </li><li>Apayao</li><li>Kalinga</li><li>Isabela</li><li>Northern Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran)</li><li>Northern and central portions of Catanduanes (Pandan, Caramoran, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga, Gigmoto, Baras, San Miguel)</li><li>Northeastern portion of Quirino (Maddela)</li><li>Eastern portion of Ifugao (Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista)</li><li>Ilocos Norte</li><li>Eastern portion of Mountain Province (Natonin, Paracelis)</li><li>Northern portion of Abra (Tineg, Lagayan, Danglas, San Juan, Lagangilang, Licuan-Baay, Malibcong, Lacub, Daguioman, Dolores, La Paz)</li></ul><div><em></em></div><p>“Kapag may wind signal number 1 po tayo… it doesn’t necessarily mean na may epekto agad sa mga oras na ito. Binibigyan po tayo ng kaunting palugit, 36 hours or less, para mapaghandaan po natin ang actual na lakas ng hangin na pwede nating maranasan,” PAGASA Assistant Weather Services Chief Chris Perez noted.  </p><p>He said PAGASA was not discounting the possibility of raising wind signals 2 or 3 if Inday moves further westward. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>METRO MANILA BRACES FOR INDAY</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><p>The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) will convene on Wednesday to discuss the preparations for Inday, Metro Manila Council President Francis Zamora said.</p><p>According to PAGASA, Inday is expected to reach its p<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/7/8/inday-to-reach-peak-over-metro-manila-on-friday-saturday-pagasa-1047">eak impact over Metro Manila on Friday and Saturday.</a></p><p>“Sa lahat ng ating mamamayan sa buong bansa, mas mabuting handa po tayo sa posibleng maging epekto po ng Super Typhoon Inday. Kaligtasan ng bawat Pilipino po ang talagang tinututukan natin,” Zamora said on the sidelines of the “Mula sa Puso, Para sa Pamilya” rice distribution drive in Muntinlupa.</p><p>In San Juan City, Zamora said that the local government already started preparing last Monday. Among the measures they have undertaken are the clearing of drainage systems and ensuring pumping stations are operational.</p><p>Zamora urged the public to cut down trees or branches that could possibly fall or snap during the onslaught of Inday.</p><p>“Overall, mabuti talaga na tayo ang mindset natin dapat, we all always prepare for the worst. We prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
