DOST-Pagasa MANILA — Super Typhoon Inday entered the Philippine area of responsibility at 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to PAGASA.</div>As of the 5 a.m. bulletin, tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 is now up in seven provinces:• Batanes• Cagayan including Babuyan Islands• Northern and central Isabela• Apayao• Eastern Kalinga• Northern Aurora• Northern and central Catanduanes<div> </div>These areas may start to experience strong winds in the next 36 hours.More areas may be placed under wind signals as the super typhoon’s strong winds extend up to 900 kilometers from its center.Signal no. 2 or 3 could be the highest wind warning that may be raised during Inday’s passage.At 4 a.m., the super typhoon was located 1,405 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.It continues to pack sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 230 kph. It is moving westward at 25 kph.The super typhoon may maintain its intensity while moving generally west northwestward over the Philippine Sea through Thursday.It could then weaken into a typhoon and continue steadily weakening while moving northwestward until it exits the PAR on Saturday, July 11.While landfall over the Philippine landmass remains unlikely, Inday may pass close to Batanes on Friday, July 10, bringing strong winds and heavy rains to the province.Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or Habagat is expected to affect the western sections Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao this Wednesday.However, Inday’s enhancement of the Habagat will begin on Thursday, bringing gusty conditions and rains over most parts of country.From Friday to Sunday, heavy to intense monsoon rains may affect Negros Island Region, Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, western Cordillera, and Metro Manila.Widespread and serious flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely in these areas and may pose a significant threat to life.Severe flooding may trigger forced evacuations; damage to agriculture, homes, and infrastructure; class and work suspensions; disruptions to land, sea, and air travel; and the spread of water- and vector-borne illnesses such as leptospirosis and dengue.Rain-induced landslides may also cause house collapses, rockfalls, and road blockages in mountainous areas.The public is advised to continue monitoring official weather updates on Super Typhoon Inday and the enhanced Habagat, as forecasts may still change.<div> </div><div>RELATED VIDEO</div><div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Zq0Yb0wGStU?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>
