<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1783601042177indaythu (1).jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">RAMMB/Himawari-9 imagery</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (UPDATED) — Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 2 was hoisted in Batanes and eastern Babuyan Islands,  as Typhoon Inday maintained its strength east of northern Luzon on Thursday afternoon.</p><p>Inday is forecast to pass close to extreme northern Luzon on Friday, July 10, before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday, July 11.</p><p>Strong winds are expected in in Batanes and eastern Babuyan Islands within the next 24 hours, with minor to moderate threat to life and property, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. bulletin Thursday.</p><p>Moderate to heavy rains from Inday’s rain bands are also expected to batter the area on Friday.</p><p>As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Inday was located 780 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, and was moving west-northwestward at 20  kph.</p><p>The typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gusts of up to 205 kph.</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1783601116319bagyo.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 was raised over the following areas:</strong></div><ul><li>The rest of Cagayan </li><li>The rest of Babuyan Islands</li><li>Isabela</li><li>northeastern Quirino </li><li>Apayao</li><li>Northern Abra </li><li>Kalinga</li><li>Eastern Mountain Province </li><li>Eastern Ifugao </li><li>Ilocos Norte</li><li>Northern Aurora </li><li>Northern and central Catanduanes</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>Meanwhile, the Inday-enhanced southwest monsoon or Habagat is already prevailing over the central and southern parts of the country, bringing with it gusty winds and scattered rains.</p><p>Moderate to heavy monsoon rains may persist from Friday through Sunday in Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao provinces, Negros Island Region, Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Metro Manila.</p><p>Heavy to intense rainfall is possible in Antique, Occidental Mindoro, Bataan, and Zambales.</p><p>The risk of widespread and serious flooding and rain-induced landslides remains high in these areas and may pose a significant threat to life.</p><p>Severe flooding could trigger forced evacuations; damage agriculture, homes, and infrastructure; class and work suspensions; disrupt land, sea, and air travel; and increase the risk of water- and vector-borne illnesses such as leptospirosis and dengue.</p><p>Rain-induced landslides may also cause house collapses, rockfalls, and road blockages in mountainous areas.</p><p>The public is advised to continue monitoring official weather updates on Typhoon Inday and the enhanced Habagat, as forecasts may still change. <strong><em>- with reports from Ariel Rojas, ABS-CBN News</em></strong></p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/okvJEmmAmoQ?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
