<p>MANILA — <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/10/monsoon-rains-to-persist-as-habagat-prevails-over-luzon-western-visayas-0708">Monsoon rains</a> enhanced by tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay have left at least 8 people dead, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday. </p><p>As of 6 a.m., the death toll included two fatalities in Benguet due to a landslide and another three in Rizal due to rockslide and a fallen tree. </p><p>Batangas province reported three deaths due to drowning, electrocution, and landslide. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/10/monsoon-rains-to-persist-as-habagat-prevails-over-luzon-western-visayas-0708">Monsoon rains to persist as Habagat prevails over Luzon, Western Visayas</a></div><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FabscbnNEWS%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0LnQxz9fVTstVtUKQUdnKfg1JyjSVzQ4RYvVkVT7DuRcjWhgBEHDJQ9S7pRMdZ76ql&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="734" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>The combined effects of the cyclones and the habagat or southwest monsoon injured nine others, left one missing, and affected about 752,000 individuals.  </p><p>The weather systems have caused damage of around P1.12 billion in infrastructure and P3.53 million in agriculture.
