<p>MANILA — Malacañang has suspended government work and classes in public and private schools in several areas on August 13 at 3 p.m. due to “continuous heavy rainfall” in parts of Luzon.</p><p>The suspension is implemented in the following areas: </p><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>National Capital Region </li><li>Zambales </li><li>Bataan </li><li>Bulacan </li><li>Pampanga </li><li>Tarlac </li><li>Nueva Ecija </li><li>Cavite </li><li>Batangas </li><li>Rizal </li><li>Laguna </li><li>Quezon</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>“Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services are hereby directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services,” Malacañang said in its Memorandum Circular No. 125.</p><p>“Further thereto, the localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules and regulations,” it read.</p><p>“The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.”</p><p>The suspension was announced after intense rains continued to drench parts of the Philippines’ largest island for about a week as the southwest monsoon continues to prevail over the country.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/13/habagat-cyclones-affect-nearly-3-7-million-ndrrmc-1312">Habagat, cyclones affect nearly 3.7 million — NDRRMC</a></div>
